Playing the blame game?

Saw this article on Gamespot - health warning labels for games?
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6203153.html

It is not the games that promote aggressive behaviour, it's the stupidity of the gamers looking for an excuse to do stupid things like kill someone, injure themselves or imitate Niko Bellic. I think the warning label should go "WARNING: Intelligence, responsibility and self-control required to play this game. If you have none of the above, do not play games as you are likely to do something damaging and stupid, and will want to blame the game for it. Save all of us the trouble and go self destruct, you @#$%."

I have been playing games most of my life and the only time I really want to get violent is reading something dumb like this. But I draw power from my inner geek and use my anger for something productive - play a violent game!

Bad year for the economy, good year for games?

So things look gloomy this year. Shore up what's left of your investments - if you haven't been had by Madoff or waylaid by Lehman Brothers, and spend your money on things that will make you happy. Just look at the lineup of game releases this year!

1Up's list of the Top 25

GameSpy's comprehensive list of release dates

StarCraft II! Diablo 3! Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars! Sims 3! The action! The gore! The saucy exploits of my Sims who are always having inappropriate relationships with their neighbours!

It's good to be alive for 2009. With a bunch of good games, gamers can live through any depression. Just make sure you have enough money for food, shelter, power and games. Who knows if or when we can live to retirement anyway.

Game on!
